Zing Drone Solutions today announced Z-SCAN MINI™, a compact, handheld Remote ID receiver built for law enforcement and public safety operations, designed to give officers immediate situational awareness of nearby uncrewed aircraft.
Z-SCAN MINI™ debuted this week at the DroneResponders National Public Safety UAS Conference, where public safety agencies from across the United States gather to explore new technologies supporting safe drone operations and incident response.
As drones are increasingly encountered during major public events, critical incidents, and perimeter security operations, law enforcement agencies need portable tools that can rapidly identify and assess drone activity without relying on fixed infrastructure. Z-SCAN MINI addresses this need by delivering real-time drone identification and location awareness in a handheld form factor suitable for patrol, incident response, and tactical deployments.
Z-SCAN MINI scans for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Remote ID broadcasts, allowing officers to detect compliant drones transmitting Remote ID as well as identify airspace where no Remote ID signals are present. By observing both signal types, officers gain increased confidence when assessing whether a nearby drone is cooperative and compliant, or potentially non-compliant or rogue, supporting informed decision-making during investigations and response activities.
